How to set up your router?

Once you power up the router, allow up to 30 minutes for it to connect and update to the latest software version.

For the best signal, place the router in an open area, preferably high up like on a shelf or mounted on a wall, away from any obstacles. This helps the signal travel more freely through your home.

For the strongest signal, both the 4G/LTE and 5G indicator lights on the router should be green or blue depending on the router you have. If only the 4G light is on, it means there is no 5G signal. In this case, move the router to a different location.

You can use your MTN smartphone to check where the LTE/5G signal is strongest in your home.

How to adjust my network settings?

Adjust the Network Settings

Go to the section called [My Router] or similar.

Make sure the connection is disabled before editing.

Click on Settings, then APN.

PDP Type: Default

Profile Name: (e.g. Home Internet)

APN Name: Provided by MTN (The default APN should be "mymtnhome").

Click Apply, then Set as Default.

Return and enable the connection.

Why won’t my router work at a different address?

Your Home Internet router will only work at the address you provided when you signed up for this plan. Moving the router to a different location may affect your service.

How to find the Router MTN number for your MTN Home Internet SIM card?

You can find your MTN Home Internet number in the welcome email/SMS that we sent to you when you signed up. It can also be found on your invoice, where it’s listed as the service reference number.
