Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before participating. By taking part in this Promotion, you agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not participate in the Promotion.

1.1 The Promotion is the Samsung Galaxy S26FE, S26, S26 Plus & S26 Ultra trade-in value promotion, through which qualifying participants may trade in an eligible Pre-Owned Device and receive the applicable trade-in value, subject to these Terms and Conditions (“Promotion”). 

1.2 The promoter of the Promotion is MTN South Africa (Proprietary) Limited, Registration number: 1993/001436/07 and/or its agencies ("MTN” or Organizer").

1.3 The trade-in partner of the Promotion is Northladder Trading LLC, Registration number: 1698886 and/or its agencies (“Trade-In Partner”).

2.1 The Promotion will run from 07 September 2026 until 06 October 2026 at 23h59 (“Promotion Period”).

2.2 The duration of the Promotion may be extended or curtailed by the Organizer, subject to applicable law and publication of the updated Promotion Period.
 

3.1 All participants must:

3.1.1 be citizens of the Republic of South Africa and/or a legal resident of the aforesaid country; and

3.1.2 be currently residing in the Republic of South Africa at the date of the commencement of the Promotion Period; and

3.1.3 must be a natural person and be at least 18 (eighteen) years old at the date of the commencement of the Promotion Period; and

3.1.4 be in the possession of a valid South African identity.

3.2. The Organizer, its directors, members, partners, employees, agents, consultants, suppliers, and any person directly or indirectly controlled by, or under common control with, the Organizer may participate in the Promotion, provided that they personally purchase a Promotion Device for their own personal use and comply with these Terms and Conditions. The same applies to their spouses, life partners, parents, children, siblings, business partners and associates. Proof of purchase may be required.

3.3. Any misrepresentation by a participant or in-store sales representative may result in the disqualification of the claim and possible further action.

4.1 To qualify for the Promotion, the participant must, during the Promotion Period:

4.1.1 Be eligible to participate in terms of section 3 above.

4.1.2 The Promotion is the Samsung Galaxy S26FE, Samsung Galaxy S26, Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra from MTN during the Promotion Period (“Promotion Device”).

4.1.3 Use the IMEI number printed on the Promotion Device packaging to apply for the trade-in of an eligible Pre-Owned Device; and

4.1.4 Trade in an eligible pre-owned device listed in the table below (“Pre-Owned Device”).

Samsung Galaxy S26FE, S26, S26 Plus and S26 Ultra Campaign

The eligible Pre-Owned Devices that may be traded in under this Promotion are listed in the table below. Eligibility remains subject to the Trade-In Partner’s validation, grading criteria and applicable trade-in process.

A pre-selected range of qualifying devices have been categorized into three value tiers (Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3)

Once the preselected devices have been successfully evaluated and confirmed to be in flawless condition, the applicable trade-in value will be awarded based on the assigned tier and passed to the customer's account.

4.1.5. Every Pre-Owned Device submitted for trade-in will undergo a condition assessment by the Trade-In Partner based on its functionality and cosmetic condition. Following this inspection, the Pre-Owned Device will be assigned a condition grade, which will determine the applicable trade-in value.

4.1.6. Pre-Owned Devices that cannot be powered on or require an external power source to operate will not qualify under the trade-in program.

4.1.7. The condition assessment, grading and determination of the trade-in value of the Pre-Owned Device will be conducted by the Trade-In Partner. The Trade-In Partner’s decision will be final, provided that it acts reasonably and in accordance with the applicable trade-in process.

4.1.8. Should the participant return the Promotion Device and cancel their purchase of the Promotion Device, they will no longer qualify for the Offer. The Trade-In Partner will be entitled to recover any additional value paid to the participant under the Promotion. The additional value shall be the difference between the value of the Pre-Owned Device and the total value paid to the participant.

5.1. Yes, the Promotion is not limited to one Pre-Owned Device per Promotion Device purchased.

5.2. Participants may trade in more than one eligible Pre-Owned Device for each Promotion Device purchased, subject to the Trade-In Partner’s approval and the applicable trade-in process.
 

6.1. The Promotion will afford the participant an offer selected for the relevant campaign, subject to these Terms and Conditions, qualifying participants may receive the campaign-specific benefit confirmed at the time of purchase, which may include:

6.2.1. a reduction in their Promotion Device monthly contract payment with MTN;

6.2.2. a once-off trade-in credit, voucher, cashback, store credit or other campaign-specific benefit, as confirmed in the relevant campaign details.
 

7.1. Participants who purchase a Promotion Device on contract from a participating MTN store may qualify for a reduction in their monthly contract payment, based on the qualifying level of the Promotion Device purchased (Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3), the final trade-in value allocated to the Participant's Pre-Owned Device, and the selected contract term (24 or 36 months). The maximum monthly reduction available is determined by the applicable device level as follows:

Level 1: Up to R450 per month on a 24-month contract or up to R300 per month on a 36-month contract.
Level 2: Up to R300 per month on a 24-month contract or up to R200 per month on a 36-month contract.
Level 3: Up to R210 per month on a 24-month contract or up to R140 per month on a 36-month contract.

The actual monthly reduction awarded will depend on the final trade-in value allocated to the Participant's Pre-Owned Device and may be less than the applicable maximum monthly reduction for the qualifying Promotion Device level purchased

7.2. If the trade-in of the Pre-Owned Device is unsuccessful following the applicable validation, grading or compliance checks, the participant may be required to repay any value already received. Repayment must be made to the Trade-In Partner where the trade-in was processed through the Trade-In Partner’s online platform, or to the relevant MTN store where the trade-in was processed in-store. Any repayment will be dealt with in accordance with the agreement concluded between the participant and the Trade-In Partner at the time of trade-in. Bank charges may apply.

7.3. An unsuccessful trade-in can take place in circumstances where:

7.3.1. the participant receives the trade-in value and the Pre-Owned Device is not intended for the South African market; or

7.3.2. if it has been established through the relevant blacklisting system checks by the Trade-In Partner that the Pre-Owned Device is not owned by the participant or is blacklisted.

7.4. The Offer is not transferable. No substitution, cash redemption or assignment of the Offer is permitted, unless expressly allowed under these Terms and Conditions or required by applicable law.

7.5. The Offer may differ from promotional material with regard to colour, specification or availability. Any substitution must be of similar economic value, where reasonably possible and subject to applicable law.

7.6. The above promotional Offer is available on a “while stocks last” basis and the Organizer cannot be held accountable once the stock of the Promotion Device has been depleted.

7.7. The Organizer may change the Offer to an offer of similar economic value where reasonably necessary, subject to applicable law and availability.

7.8. Any and all tax implications and liabilities as a result of receiving the Offer will be solely borne by the participant.
 

8.1. The participant irrevocably warrants that:

8.1.1. they are the lawful and unencumbered owner of the Pre-Owned Device;

8.1.2. the Pre-Owned Device is not stolen, lost, unlawfully acquired, blacklisted, or subject to any third-party rights, financing, security interests or claims;

8.1.3. all information provided in connection with the trade-in is true, accurate and complete.

8.2. The Organizer and the Trade-In Partner are entitled to rely on these warranties without independent verification.

9.1. The participant is solely responsible for backing up, removing and permanently deleting all personal data, accounts, passwords and other information stored on the Pre-Owned Device before submitting it for trade-in.

9.2. The participant acknowledges that:

9.2.1. the Organizer and the Trade-In Partner do not guarantee the removal or recovery of any data remaining on the Pre-Owned Device after it has been submitted for trade-in;

9.2.2. the Organizer and the Trade-In Partner will take reasonable steps to avoid accessing personal data on the Pre-Owned Device, but they will not be liable for any loss, disclosure or unauthorized access caused by the participant’s failure to remove such data before trade-in;

9.2.3. neither the Organizer nor the Trade-In Partner is under any obligation to recover or return any data; and

9.2.4. any data that has not been removed by the participant may remain accessible during testing, grading, processing, refurbishment, recycling or disposal of the Pre-Owned Device.

9.3. Subject to applicable law, the participant waives any claim against the Organizer and the Trade-In Partner arising from:

9.3.1. any data remaining on the Pre-Owned Device, or any access, disclosure or use of such data, where the participant failed to remove it before submitting the Pre-Owned Device; or

9.3.2. any failure by the participant to erase data before submitting the Pre-Owned Device.

10.1. By participating in this Promotion, the participant consents to the Organizer and the Trade-In Partner processing personal information in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including POPIA, for the purposes of:

10.1.1. identity verification and fraud prevention;

10.1.2. validation of ownership of the Pre-Owned Device and IMEI verification;

10.1.3. processing and administration of the trade-in transaction;

10.1.4. refurbishment, resale, recycling or disposal of the Pre-Owned Device; and

10.1.5. compliance with applicable legal, regulatory and audit requirements.

10.2. The participant acknowledges that:

10.2. personal information may be shared with authorized service providers, regulators and other parties involved in administering the Promotion, only where reasonably required for the Promotion or trade-in transaction;

10.2.2. personal information may be processed outside the Republic of South Africa, subject to appropriate safeguards; and

c10.2.3. such processing is necessary for the administration of the Promotion and the trade-in transaction.

11.1. All Pre-Owned Devices submitted for trade-in are subject to inspection and validation by the Trade-In Partner.

11.2. Any trade-in value quoted before inspection is indicative only and subject to final evaluation.

11.3. The Trade-In Partner may revise the trade-in value where the Pre-Owned Device differs from the description provided by the participant or does not meet the expected grading criteria.

11.4. The Trade-In Partner may reject any Pre-Owned Device that fails validation, grading or compliance requirements, provided that it acts reasonably and in accordance with the applicable trade-in process.

11.5. Rejected Pre-Owned Devices will be dealt with in accordance with the applicable trade-in process and any agreement concluded with the participant. Where required, the participant will be notified of the available options, which may include return, recycling or disposal of the Pre-Owned Device.

12.1. The participant indemnifies and holds harmless the Organizer, the Trade-In Partner, the Trade-in Partner and their respective directors, employees, agents and service providers against any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, penalties, costs or expenses arising from or in connection with:

12.1.1. any breach of these Terms and Conditions or applicable law by the participant;

12.1.2. any misrepresentation made by the participant regarding the Promotion or the Pre-Owned Device;

12.1.3. the participant not being the lawful owner of the Pre-Owned Device or not being entitled to trade it in;

12.1.4. the Pre-Owned Device being stolen, unlawfully obtained, blacklisted, counterfeit or subject to any third-party rights or claims; or

12.1.5. any fraudulent or unlawful act or omission by the participant in connection with the Promotion.

12.2. This indemnity shall not apply to the extent that any claim, loss or damage arises directly from the gross negligence, willful misconduct or fraud of the Organizer, the Trade-In Partner or the Trade-in Partner.

The participant acknowledges and agrees that the trade-in transaction and any purchase or subscriber agreement entered into for a Promotion Device are separate and independent agreements. Cancellation or termination of one agreement does not automatically affect the other, except where expressly provided for in these Terms and Conditions.

14.1. Where the participant has purchased the Promotion Device at an MTN store and redeems the Offer at the same participating MTN store, the participant must follow the steps below. This applies where the participant elects to purchase the Promotion Device on contract. Redemption of the Offer can only be made at the MTN store where the Promotion Device was purchased.

Step 1: Prepare the Pre-Owned Device by:
Backing up all files and information from the Pre-Owned Device.
Performing a factory reset on the Pre-Owned Device.
Deactivating the Pre-Owned Device from the iCloud account and disabling Stolen Device Protection.
Removing the SIM card.

Step 2: Hand in your Pre-Owned Device at the MTN store, where it will be graded to determine the final trade-in value.

Step 3: Once the participating MTN store has assessed the Participant's Pre-Owned Device and communicated the final trade-in value, the Participant may be eligible for a reduction in the monthly contract payment in accordance with clause 7.2, subject to meeting all applicable eligibility requirements. To receive the applicable monthly reduction, the Participant must accept and enter into the Trade-In Agreement and the MTN Subscriber Agreement.

Step 4: Participants must provide their personal details for inclusion in the Trade-In Agreement relating to the sale of the Pre-Owned Device and sign the applicable terms and conditions.

15.1. Data charges may be incurred by the participant during the redemption process of the Offer. The Organizer will not be responsible for any such costs. Standard network rates apply.

15.2. Any costs associated with redeeming the Offer shall be for the participant's account, and the Organizer will not be responsible for such costs.

15.3. The Organizer accepts no responsibility for entries that are lost, misdirected, illegible, incomplete, incorrect, late, mutilated or altered. Entries that do not comply with these Terms and Conditions will be disqualified.

15.4. All personal information exchanged through third-party applications will not be monitored or controlled by the Organizer. The participant is responsible for ensuring that they are aware of the terms and conditions applicable to the use of such third-party applications and indemnifies the Organizer against any liability arising therefrom.

15.5. In accordance with the confidentiality policies and practices of the Organizer, participant information will only be used for administering the Promotion, complying with applicable law, and any marketing communication permitted under clause 15.7 below.

15.6. Participants acknowledge and accept that the Organizer may appoint authorized third parties to contact participants who qualify for the Promotion and, where applicable, facilitate the delivery of the Offer. The Organizer may provide the participant's information to such authorized third parties for this purpose.

15.7. Subject to applicable law and any required consent, the Organizer and its affiliates may contact participants regarding products and promotional activities. Participants must be given a reasonable opportunity to opt out of receiving marketing communications at any time.

15.8. Information published on authorized promotional material forms part of these Terms and Conditions. Should there be any conflict between such promotional material and these Terms and Conditions, these Terms and Conditions shall prevail.

15.9. The Organizer may amend these Terms and Conditions where reasonably necessary and subject to applicable law. Any amendments will take effect from the date on which the revised Terms and Conditions are published.

15.10. The onus rests on the participant to regularly check the applicable website for updates to these Terms and Conditions.

15.11. If this Promotion is interfered with or cannot be conducted as reasonably anticipated due to circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the Organizer, including but not limited to technical failures, unauthorized intervention or fraud, the Organizer reserves the right, subject to applicable law, to disqualify any participant or to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the Promotion.

15.12. The Organizer may cancel, suspend or terminate this Promotion where reasonably necessary and subject to applicable law. Such cancellation, suspension or termination will take effect from the date of publication on the Organizer's website and will not affect any rights already accrued by participants, unless otherwise required by law or operational circumstances beyond the Organizer’s reasonable control.

15.13. This Promotion is governed by these Terms and Conditions and the applicable terms and conditions of participating MTN retail stores.

15.14. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with this Promotion shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

15.15. The Organizer accepts no liability for any delay or failure in delivering the Offer caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to stock shortages, strikes, lockouts, civil unrest, riots, acts of government, fire, explosion, storms, floods, earthquakes or other force majeure events.

15.16. If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found to be illegal, invalid or unenforceable:

15.16.1. it shall be read down to the extent necessary to make it legal, valid and enforceable; or, if that is not possible;

15.16.2. it shall be severed from these Terms and Conditions without affecting the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions.

To the extent that these Terms and Conditions, or any goods or services provided under them, are governed by the Consumer Protection Act, 2008, no provision is intended to contravene the applicable provisions of the Consumer Protection Act. Accordingly, these Terms and Conditions shall be interpreted and applied so as to comply with the Consumer Protection Act where applicable.

17.1. The Trade-In process will take place as follows:

17.1.1. The customer selects a qualifying Promotion Device and trades in an eligible Pre-Owned Device to receive the applicable trade-in value.

17.1.2. The MTN sales consultant captures the required information in the grading tool, where the device is evaluated and the customer signs the applicable Trade-In documentation.

17.1.3. The MTN sales consultant completes the applicable MTN sales process and provides the Promotion Device to the customer.

17.1.4. The grading tool is then used to arrange collection of the traded-in handset by the Trade-In Partner's appointed courier for delivery to the Trade-in Partner’s grading facility.

17.1.5. The Trade-in Partner performs the final grading and provides a report to MTN and any relevant campaign partner for confirmation.

18.1. Participants must switch on the Promotional Device and complete the following steps before leaving the participating MTN store:

Turn on the Promotional Device.

Select the preferred language on the Welcome screen and select Start.

Review and accept the End User License Agreement and select Next.

Connect to Wi-Fi or insert a SIM card with internet connectivity.

Once the "Getting your Phone Ready" screen appears, the activation process has been successfully completed.

The Promotion is available at participating MTN stores only. A list of participating stores will be made available by MTN.
