Get smarter with free access to Wikipedia and MoMaths

Education is the key to unlocking a better future for our entire nation. Which is why MTN is excited to announce two new educational initiatives that that will put much-needed learning materials in the hands of every school child in South Africa.

These initiatives were sparked by a petition video posted by Sinenjongo High School in Milnerton, Cape Town. Watch the announcement video that we shared with them below:

Zero-rated Wikipedia access

Earlier this year, we became the first and only cellular network in South Africa to zero-rate access to Wikipedia on our network. This means that school children can access over 4.5 million Wikipedia articles for free on any cellphone with an MTN SIM card-a vital resource for school projects and exams.

To access Wikipedia for free on the MTN network:

    1. Download the MTN branded Opera Mini browser for free at m.opera.com
on any cellphone with an MTN SIM card

    2. Go to m.wikipedia.org using the MTN branded Opera Mini browser

MoMaths

Mathematics is one of the most important and challenging subjects, which is why we have partnered with Nokia and the Department of Science and Technology to bring South Africa's school children MoMaths, a mobile app which enables grade 10, 11 and 12 learners to practice and learn mathematics. And just like Wikipedia, this service is offered for free.

To access MoMaths for free on the MTN network:

    1. Sign up at momaths.nokia.com/za on any cellphone with an MTN SIM card

    2. Login with your username and password to practice and learn maths on your
        cellphone
