Welcome to My MTN Mail

  • Overview

Welcome to My MTN Mail’s email service!

With My MTN Mail’s email service you can have your very own My MTN Mail email address and also benefit from the following features:

    • SMS notification of new email messages.
    • Access to your email via the web site, from cell phones with built in email facilities or from your PC email program.
    • 2GB of email storage space.
    • Built in Calendar and Contacts List.
    • Built in Spam and Virus checking.
    • Up to 4 additional email aliases.
    • All of this FOR FREE!
    • Default email address and Aliases

Your primary alias will always be your cell phone number (e.g. 083123321@mymtnmail.co.za). You can’t delete this alias but it can be de-activated (for example, if you are receiving spam). You are able to add 4 additional aliases which can all be used as email addresses, for example your name, your company name or a nickname. This can be done by calling our call center at 135 from your MTN cellphone or 083 135 from other handsets.

You cannot choose other cell phone numbers as an alias or an alias that has already been chosen by another customer.

    • Accessing your email

There are 3 methods you can use to access your email once you’ve signed up:

      1. The website – the easiest method is by accessing the website – simply use your internet browser and go to https://www.mtn.co.za/MYMTN/Pages/myMTN.aspx. Once registered and logged in, your MyMTN Mail option will be on the page. Alternatively, you can go directly to https://mail.mymtnmail.co.za to access your webmail.
      2. A PC email client, such as Microsoft Outlook, that supports a technology called POP3 for receiving email and SMTP for sending email.
        1. The POP3 (incoming mail) setting is: mail.mymtnmail.co.za
        2. The SMTP (outgoing mail) setting is: mail.mtn.co.za

Please Note: If you use a PC client to download email then the emails will no longer be available on the website. Please note that you can only send emails using the SMTP server if you are using an MTN data connection (eg: MTN Data Card or using an MTN cell phone as a modem). IMAP though is supported and a more recommended route to go.

      3. A compatible cell phone with a built in email client that supports a technology called POP3 for receiving email and SMTP for sending email The POP3 and SMTP setting is the same as the PC client:
        1. The POP3 (incoming mail) setting is: mail.mymtnmail.co.za
        2. The SMTP (outgoing mail) setting is: mail.mtn.co.za

Please Note: If you download emails using POP3 on your cell phone then they may no longer be available on the website – This is handled differently depending on the model of handset that you are using.
